SPRING TIP: BERLIN LAKES

Summer ahead! And while the lakes in and around the city are usually packed during hot summer days, the fresh and energising days in spring invite you to leave the inner-city for some relaxing activities around the lakes nearby. We have three recommendations for you:

Liepnitzsee
is known as one of Berlin’s most beautiful lakes and especially popular for its crystal clear water. The perfect activity during the Indian Summer is to take a ferry to the island amidst the lake where you can go for a little walk and enjoy a drink in the little beer garden. We recommend taking the S-Bahn or Regionalexpress to Wandlitz or Bernau. From there, it is just a 30 min bike ride to the lake (walking not recommended!).

For a more spontaneous trip that doesn’t involve traveling to the outskirts of the city, we recommend a bike trip to Rummelsburger Bucht which is located right next to Ostkreuz  The „Bucht“ is a bay area of the Spree river and a great destination for an early evening tour. On your way down the Spree, you'll pass by several cafés and restaurants which offer the opportunity to enjoy the sunrise right next to the water.

Wannsee is Berlin's biggest lake and offers many possible activities for day trips. Take the S-Bahn to Wannsee station and the ferry to Kladow. Or visit sights next to the lake such as the picturesque Lieberman Villa, the former residence of impressionist Max Lieberman. Here, you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a piece of cake in the garden with a beautiful view.

ENJOY your swim! :)
