Through your ears directly into your brain - and feet: Songs are a wonderful way to practice a language and get in touch with a country's (pop) culture. This is why at Transmitter musics plays an important role in our German classes. Our teachers are always in search new hits and classics to make their classes more entertaining and to give our students insights on German pop culture. 

In our new weekly series we would like to introduce you to a couple of songs that we recommend for improving your German. All of them come with interesting videos and the lyrics so you can work on your vocabulary while you listen to them. Let's start with four songs for the beginner's level A2! 1. Crow - Einmal um die Welt (>> Lyrics)

Rapper Crow takes us on a trip around the world - perfect to train prepositions and travel vocabulary. 

2. 2raumwohnung - Nimm mich mit (>> Lyrics)

More travelling: Singer Inga Humpe dreams of all the business trips she could go on with her busy boyfriend. Get on the plane with her!

3. Hildegard Knef - Ich bin zu müde, um schlafen zu gehen (>> Lyrics)

Hildegard Knef was the Grande Damme of German chanson. In this atmospheric classic, she contemplates on Berlin night life with all its bright and dark moments. 

4. Stereo Total - Die Frau in der Musik (>> Lyrics)

The legendary French-German duo takes a sarcastic look at the role of female musicians in the pop business. Great to learn new adjectives.

5. BVG (feat. Kazim Akboga) - Is' mir egal (>> Lyrics)

This song from a commercial for the Berlin public transport was never actually released, but became an instant classic. Welcome to Berlin in all its diversity!
