LEARN GERMAN WITH YOUTUBE

YouTube offers a wide range of channels with services targeted at German students of different levels. We'd like to suggest the following platforms: 

  • Easy German is specializing in producing entertaining German learning videos focusing on street interviews with "real Germans", and also features additional content to learn about the German language and culture. The platform is most suitable for students of higher language levels, but also provides subtitles for beginners. 
  • Learn German with Jenny offers German lessons for all levels. The courses held in English offer opportunities to practice your listening comprehension, review essential grammar structures and build and broaden your vocabulary.
  • The platform Deutsch mit Maria is especially useful for students of higher levels who intend to take language exams such as TestDaF or TELC. Maria gives you an insight into the format of these kinds of tests and shares some very useful advice.
  • Deutsch lernen mit DW is part of the extensive online German course system of the German public broadcasting station DW and offers a huge variety of learning videos for students in beginners' levels as well as video reports about a wide range of topics for students in higher levels.
  • Another entertaining way to improve your German? The web telenovela "Nico's Way" created by DW Deutsche Welle was designed specifically for German learners, each episode comes with grammar and vocabulary trainings. As cheesy as a telenovela can be, but highly recommended!
  • And finally: If you like funny and trashy entertainment, we'd recommend the web series "Extra", a show in the style of classic soap operas and sitcoms produced for German public television. The web series is available with German subtitles for beginners on the web channel BienLanguages.
